Why Phonejoy?top ▲

Phonejoy is probably the easiest solutions among gamepads, as it does not require root access or any complicated procedures to set-up. Also Phonejoy really works with most Android and Windows devices. Phonejoy also comes with a familiar gamepad design that offers all the buttons a user can wish for.

Does Phonejoy work with my Android phone?top ▲

All Android devices running 2.2 and up are supported by Phonejoy and Bluez-IME. That does include unrooted devices, as well as HTC and Samsung devices. So far only the LG Thrill and LG Optimus 3D have been reported to have problems, because its Bluetooth stack only supports Bluetooth A2DP profile. We therefore caution users of LG devices before buying a Phonejoy.

Does Phonejoy work with my iPhone or iPad?top ▲

Currently Phonejoys do not support iOS, because the system does not support the Bluetooth Serial Port Profile (SPP) unless jailbroken.

We are currently working on an iOS friendly Bluetooth Human Interface Device (HID) version, that will work with iOS using the iCade mode. This will be due for release in the coming weeks.

Where do I buy Phonejoy?top ▲

Currently you can only order Phonejoy through our website. That is because demand makes it not feasible enough to wholesale Phonejoys at this point.  We can assure you that is 100% safe to order through our side. You will be protected by PayPal’s 45 days buyers’ protection and should you not be satisfied with our product you can always choose to return it within 14 days of receipt.

Should we start to sell Phonejoy to other businesses, we will let our customers know through a separate authorized dealers page in the feature. If you are interested in re-selling Phonejoy you may contact [email protected].

Do you offer any support, return or warranty services?top ▲

Firstly, you do have the possibility, to receive a refund of your order at any time, and if you do not like our product you can return it to us within 14 days of the day you have received your Phonejoy and receive a refund of the cost (excl. the shipping) of your Phonejoy. We also have a limited warranty service of three months, which can be extended to 12 months for a small surcharge. Please check our warranty policy for more details.

What is Bluez-IME?top ▲

Bluez-IME is an open source app for Android, which creates a framework for Bluetooth input devices on the Android platform (see the Bluez-IME developer page for more details). The use of Bluez-IME is free, but I encourage every user to make a small donation if possible to the developer without whom Phonejoy support wouldn’t be possible on Android.

Help! My Phonejoy is not working.top ▲

First check that your Phonejoy turns on (check the green LED) and whether it is charged. If this is not the case then your Phonejoy may be in its “sleep” mode. To deactivate the sleep mode you need to turn on your Phonejoy and even though the green light is not lighting up you should hold the SELECT button for about 20 seconds. The green light should start blinking again.

If your Phonejoy turns on successfully, and you still cannot connect to your Phone or PC correctly, please re-check the instructions page and ensure that your Phonejoy is paired.

If your Phonejoy appears to be malfunctioning, it has also shown to help a great deal for some when you factory reset your Phonejoy. You can do that by connecting your Phonejoy to a power source using the micro USB cable and then holding the SELECT, START and L1 buttons. The green LED should then go off and start flashing after a few seconds. After the LED flashes you can release the buttons again.

Should none of these instructions have helped you, please contact [email protected] and we will try to assist you with your problem.

Do you plan to support other platforms?top ▲

The current revision of Phonejoy only supports Android 2.2+ and Windows XP/2000/Vista/7.

An iCade mode is planned for a future Phonejoy version to be released soon. Please stay tuned for more news.

How does the FPSE and N64oid emulator work with my Phonejoy?top ▲

FPSE should work without any further setup. You do not need to run Bluez-IME, although you will need to have it installed and successfully paired and set-up your Phonejoy. You only need to activate your Bluetooth and turn your Phonejoy on. When you start FPSE it should automatically connect to your Phonejoy.

N64oid works very similar to FPSE in that respect, you will also only need to have Bluez-IME installed and paired, but you will not have to run it separately. You will only need to head to the N64oid Input settings to Bluetooth gamepads and select and connect your Phonejoy there. The special part about N64oid is that it does support 4 player mode, you will only need to pair all your Phonejoys and connect them in the Bluetooth gamepads settings in N64oid.

Should you face any trouble setting these or any other emulators up, please do not hesitate and contact us at [email protected].

Does Phonejoy work with Android games aside of Emulators?top ▲

In a nutshell, all games that support keyboard input will also support Phonejoy, since Phonejoy using Bluez-IME can support all possible keyboard key presses. Currently a small but growing number of more than 80 games support Phonejoy. Please head to our game section for more information.

Does Phonejoy support multiplayer games?top ▲

In theory, you can connect up 4 Phonejoys to your Android phone or PC and both our Windows driver and the Bluez-IME app support this. The thing is that very few games to date actually support on-screen multiplayer. To our knowledge this has only been N64oid thus far and perhaps some other emulators. Of course, the multiplayer mode will also drain your devices resources, so we recommend that you make sure to have a device with the necessary power before you go ahead and buy 4 Phonejoys.

How do I connect my phone to my HD-TV/Monitor?top ▲

First of all we may caution all users that not all smartphones and tablets may support some sort of HDMI out. Some tablets to posses an HDMI Mini port, other such as the Galaxy Tab 7.7, 8.9 and 10.1 do I need a HDTV adapter for Samsung’s 30 pin proprietary port. Some phones such as the Galaxy Nexus, Samsung Galaxy S II, Infusion 4G, HTC Sensation, EVO 3D, may also need a micro USB to MHL adapter (available in our store; for a full list of MHL devices click here).

Usually when using these cables no further set-up should be needed. Should you have any connectivity problems we advise you to try contacting your phone’s manufacturer first.
